It’s August, and in an election year, members of the U.S. House and Senate are back home campaigning.
The August recess provides an excellent opportunity to meet with your Representatives and Senators about issues that concern you, your business, and your workers. Now is the time to discuss the need for Congress to enact bipartisan legislation to close the technical talent gap and encourage STEM education.
We must talk to Democrats, Republicans, Independents, incumbents, and challengers. Engagement options include town halls, coffees, campaign events, back-to-school nights, scheduled meetings, and even a site visit to your offices. A site visit is particularly effective and would allow members to learn more about the business model for IT/Engineering staffing and IT solutions firms. We know from experience that these conversations produce results.
TechServe’s Government Affairs Team is ready to support your advocacy with training, talking points, sample letters, help scheduling meetings, and more. While we encourage August meetings, engagement opportunities will continue leading to the November 5 election. Email Julie Strandlie for advocacy assistance from now through election day.
